Mental Health

Mental health is defined as the level of thinking where one can think rationally and has the ability to cope up with different life situations. It is also defined as the capacity "to work and to love" by a mental health specialist and psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud. To be healthy as a whole, mental health plays a role. Being an important part and regulator of our body, brain plays a vital part in a person's life. Interacting and behavioural skills develop at an early age due to training of mind in a certain way which creates various thinking patterns and influences our future experiences. Our mind power is vast and very strong beyond our knowledge. Sometimes a farrago of very complex and extreme grievous situations cause instability of thinking and analysing power which leads to mental illness. It can be treated but leaves a mark on ones personality. However some illnesses are congenital but most of them are created by ones own thought processes instead of being created by the physical environment. People do agree with the fact that each and every second of our life is created by our own thinking pattern but very few act in a way to create it positively. On the other hand physical well being is considered an important factor for life sustenance, people do whatever it takes to keep their body working, being fitness freaks, they visit gyms, adopt various eating habits, create a routine etc. But never give importance to mental health. Just wait for a second and notice what are  you thinking? In today's scenario almost everyone at one point of time experiences such illness and its most common example is seen in teenagers in the form of extreme stress, anxiety, aggression, lack of worth, severe mood swings etc.

Mental illnesses is broadly classified as of two types :-

  1. Neurosis : This include minor mental illnesses like phobias, obsessive compulsive disorders, and anxiety disorder.
  2. Psychosis : Major mental illnesses in which mental state impairs thoughts, perception and judgement. Delusions and hallucinations are marked symptoms. This may require the use of anti-psychotic drugs as well as counselling techniques in order to treat them.
Over the years the mental health of population of entire world has changed in both positive and negative ways. To emphasise on illness part terrorism is one of them. According to me terrorism is one such mental illness that has increased in some particular groups which has affected the entire world. It can be attributed to the state of severe mental illness in which the person loses emotions and pain analysing power. Coming out with heavy rifles and contusing ideas to kill innocent people indicates an extreme level of mental disorder. Such destructive patterns growing out in minds inhibit the growth of positive mental health. This illness can be changed to wellness by changing the frequency of thoughts.
